Umarłe włosy nie tańczą (Eng. Dead hair cannot dance)

—-
umarłe włosy nie tańczą
nie sprzeczają się z wiatrem
nie opadają na zmarznięte uszy
nie wabią palców ani ptaków
—-
dead hair cannot dance
cannot argue with the breeze
cannot fall on frozen ears
cannot woo fingers or birds

Miłość jest słowem, mózg - metalową skrzynką (Eng. Love is a word, the brain - a metal box)

---

miłość jest słowem
mózg - metalową skrzynką
nakręcaną codziennie
srebrnym kluczem ułudy

ciekawości by wiedzieć
pragnienia aby znać
pożądania aby błyszczeć
uporu aby istnieć

---

love is a word
the brain - a metal box
wound up daily
with a silver key of delusion

a curiosity for knowing
a desire for sensing
a lust for shining
a stubbornness for being

Kiedyś przyjdzie wielkie zaspokojenie głodu (Eng. Someday there will come a great satiation of hunger)

--
kiedyś przyjdzie wielkie pogodzenie
z półką na książki
z obrazem
(światło elektryczne -- maleńki cud wyobraźni)

kiedyś przyjdzie wielkie zaspokojenie
głodu rąk i nóg
(moje stopy jeszcze ciągle bezczynne
po kostki zanurzone w filozofii)

i będzie cisza tak wielka
jak gdyby we wszystkich orkiestrach
umarły bębny
na anewryzm gwałtownego serca
---

someday there will come a great reconciliation
with the bookshelf
with the painting
(electric light -- a tiny miracle of imagination)

someday a great satiation will arrive
of the hunger of hands and legs
(my feet are still idle
immersed to the ankles in philosophy)

and there will be a silence as great
as if in all the orchestras
the drums had died
of an aneurysm of a torrid heart

A zapach ci poślę, zapach tych nocy (Eng. And I will send the scent to you, the scent of these nights)

---

A zapach ci poślę, zapach tych nocy,
które rozcięte przemijają pomiędzy nami,
jak pomiędzy dwoma brzegami mija rzeka.

---

And I will send the scent to you, the scent of these nights,
which sliced open pass between us
like a river passes between two banks.

Boże mojego bólu (Eng. O God of my pain)

---

Boże mój zmiłuj się nade mną
czemu stworzyłeś mnie na niepodobieństwo
twardych kamieni

pełna jestem twoich tajemnic
wodę zamieniam w wino pragnienia
wino - zamieniam w płomień krwi

Boże mojego bólu
atłasowym oddechem wymość
puste gniazdo mojego serca

lekko - żeby nie pognieść skrzydeł
tchnij we mnie ptaka
o głosie srebrnym z tkliwości

---

My God have mercy on me
why have You made me into the unlikeness
of hard stones

I am full of your secrets
I change water into the wine of desire
wine - I change into the flame of blood

God of my pain
with a satin breath strew
the empty nest of my heart

lightly - so as not to crumple the wings
breathe into me the soul of a bird
with a call become silver of tenderness

Ręce, którym nieobcy ból bezsilności (Eng. These hands, not unfamiliar with the pain of powerlessness)

---

Ręce,
którym nieobcy ból bezsilności,
wczepione w siebie jak dwa przeklęte ptaki,
bezdomne, szukające na oślep i wszędzie
śladu twoich rąk.

---

These hands,
not unfamiliar with the pain of powerlessness
are claw-locked with each other like two accursed birds, homeless, searching fiercely, blindly, and everywhere
for the trail of your hands.

Ciemne tajemnice istnień wypijesz z moich ust (Eng. You will drink the dark mysteries of beings from my lips)

ciemne tajemnice istnień
wypijesz z moich ust

i na moim ramieniu
wyliczysz
ile jest nieskończoność mnożona przez wieczność

liczydłem znakomitym
będą niepoliczone włosy

---

the dark mysteries of being
from my lips you will drink

and on my shoulder
you will calculate
what infinity multiplied by eternity is

a most excellent abacus
will be my hair uncounted

Barwa kwiatu umiera (Eng. The flower's hue dies)

---

Barwa kwiatu gaśnie
i przeradza się w owoc mniej piękny
ale potrzebny twoim palcom
które lekko dotykają ciepłej nagrzanej skóry.
Barwa kwiatu umiera...

---

The flower's hue flames out
turning into fruit less beautiful
but needed by your fingers
as they faintly touch its warm heated skin.
The flower's hue dies...

Ekshibicjonizm drzewa (Eng. The exhibitionism of a tree)

---

dlaczego nie drzewem
drzewo o krwioobiegu złotym
tak samo pnie się wzwyż
zachłannie rośnie
dojrzewa
w skupieniu
w nagrzane słońcem południe
rodzi
jesienią
odrzuca pamięć lata
porywczym rękom wiatru
oddając liści sierść
ekshibicjonizm drzewa
i doskonała pod moim łokciem
kiedy piszę -śmierć

---

why not as a tree
a tree with its golden bloodstream
scales the heights just the same
grows greedily
matures
while concentrating itself
in the sun-warmed noon
bears progeny
in the fall
casting away the remembrance of summer
giving away to the grabbing hands of wind
its coat of leaves
the exhibitionism of a tree
and under my elbow its perfect
whenever I write - death

W odrapanym oknie ziemskiej ulicy (Eng. In a shabby window of an earthly street)

---

noc jak ściana
za nimi
wszechświat z obojętnymi
oczyma gwiazd
i tylko oni - samotni
w odrapanym oknie
ziemskiej ulicy

---

night like a wall
behind them
the universe with indifferent
stars for eyes
and only these two -alone
in a shabby window
of an earthly street

To z powodu kwiatów, które nie rozkwitły (Eng. It was on account of the flowers which did not blossom)

---

to z powodu kwiatów
kochanka mojego wyprawiłam na biegun południowy
a gdy go wyprawiłam stwardniały mi usta
i już nie mogłam się napić z czystego źródła
choć pochyliłam bardzo nisko głowę
to z powodu kwiatów
które nie rozkwitły

z powodu gołębi
którym skrzydła od nagłej wiedzy ściemniały tak bardzo
że zamiast złote w słońcu
były czarne
jak noc bez gwiazd
ślepa od urodzenia
z powodu gołębi
mój kochanek postradał palce u rąk a potem dłonie

i już nie miał czym pieścić

w moim domu owiniętym wokół gałęzi drzewa
rozchwianym na wietrze -- czekam
i wypatruję
jak gdyby stamtąd mógł powrócić jeszcze
i w nieobecnych dłoniach przynieść
słoneczny rozkwit kwiatów i gołębi

czekam i wypatruję

---

it was on account of the flowers
that I sent off my lover to the South Pole
and after I sent him off my lips hardened
and I could no longer drink from a clear spring
although I bent my head very low
it was on account of the flowers
which did not blossom

it was on account of the doves
with feathers that from sudden knowledge dimmed so much
that instead of being golden in the sun's gleam
were black
just like a starless night
blind from birth
it was on account of the doves
that my lover first lost his fingers and then hands

and no longer had anything to caress with

in my house wrapped around with tree branches
swayed by the wind -- I wait
I gaze
as if he might come back from there yet
and in absent hands bring
the sunny blossom of flowers and doves

I wait and gaze

Moje nogi-królestwo gam i kolorów (Eng. My legs- a kingdom of gamuts and colors)

---

Łagodny zarys nogi
pod wąską opięta spódnicą.
Unoszę.
Moje nogi.
Królestwo gam i kolorów.

---

A gentle line of leg
under a slender tight skirt.
I raise.
My legs.
A kingdom of gamuts and colors.

Pod tańcem złotych lamp (Eng. Underneath the dance of the golden lamps) II

---

Pod tańcem
złotych lamp
fruwają nisko
proste anioły pragnień (...)

---

Underneath the dance
of the golden lamps
the simple angels of desires
fly low (...)

Nie rzuca się kobiet, bo płaczą (Eng. One does not leave women because when left they cry)

---

nie rzuca się kobiet
bo płaczą
w rogu wszechświata zwinięte
gwiazdom chłodnego blasku zazdroszczą

---

one does not leave women
because when left they cry
bundled in a corner of the universe
they envy the stars their cool shine
